About AusLitTeal
AusLitTeal is the national campaign that lights up Australia's skyline in teal (internationally recognised colour for Ovarian Cancer) every World Ovarian Cancer Day - 8th of May. Our goal is to make the colour teal synonymous with Ovarian Cancer. 82% of women and girls affected by ovarian cancer have never heard of the disease prior to their diagnosis. There is no early detection test or accurate screening method and many women incorrectly believe that a Pap-Smear can pick up ovarian cancer, when in fact it does NOT. Whilst our incredible scientific community work tirelessly for a breakthrough in early detection, the only chance a woman has at securing an early diagnosis is picking up on the incredibly vague symptoms and flagging them with her GP. By lighting up Australia's skyline in teal on World Ovarian Cancer our goal is to increase public awareness of ovarian cancer, the deadliest of female cancers, empowering all women and girls and their communities with the knowledge of the signs and symptoms and an improved chance at securing an early diagnosis.
