About Australian Aged Care Group Pty
The Australian Aged Care Group Pty Ltd operates state of the art, luxurious aged care residences in Mount Eliza, Kew and Cowes. Australian Aged Care Group Pty Ltd (AACG) boasts a legacy of dedication, built on three generations of the Matthies family’s experience in the aged care industry since the 1960s. Keith and Betty Matthies, the pioneers of this legacy, were recognised as early innovators in the aged care sector. Betty was a trained nurse whose care and generosity toward those in need, knew no bounds. During the early 1960s, Betty was asked to manage a small nursing home in Hawthorn. A few years later in 1966 Keith and Betty established and operated Canterbury Nursing Home until their retirement in the early 2000s. Their four decades of vision and commitment to providing care for seniors in the community played a crucial role in shaping the aged care sector as we see it today. This dedication inspired their son, John Matthies, to continue their legacy by building and operating premium-quality residences that would meet all the needs and expectations of a discerning market. Following his parents’ retirement, John built Kew Gardens in Gellibrand Street, Kew, followed by Banfields in Cowes, Phillip Island, and in 2024, the luxurious Mount Eliza Gardens in Mount Eliza. AACG has earned its respected reputation in the sector by continually delivering high quality care, and investing in first-class homes that are architecturally designed to encourage a strong sense of community. We are strongly committed to providing consistently high standards of services to all residents. Our team fosters friendship, tolerance and understanding across all our homes. These values are fundamental to the culture and philosophy of care that started with Keith and Betty and are demonstrated, promoted and maintained today by our management and staff.
