About Australian Catholic Safeguarding
Australian Catholic Safeguarding Ltd (ACSL) was established in December 2020 and is a company limited by guarantee which is owned by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference (ACBC), Catholic Religious Australia (CRA) and the Association of Ministerial Public Juridic Persons (AMPJP). ACSL merges the previous functions of Catholic Professional Standards Ltd and the Australian Catholic Centre for Professional Standards, bringing together national responsibilities for safeguarding into one entity. We are committed to supporting Church entities to create safe spaces for everyone. The way we achieve this is by providing a single point of reference for Church entities to access high quality, integrated safeguarding services, informed by Catholic social teaching, to support them in their responsibility to provide safe environments for everyone who engages with the Church. ACSL acknowledges the lifelong trauma of abuse victims and survivors and their families; the failure of the Catholic Church to protect, believe and respond justly to children and vulnerable adults; and the consequent breaches of community trust.
