Australian Cycle Skills Programs is a specialized flexible organization whos goal is to provide quality Cycle Skills Programs to as many members of our community as possible by sharing best practice step by step instruction of age / skill specific cycle programs for schools, private sector and local government initiatives, starting from year four students to seniors of all ages. Currently these programs are being delivered through various contracts with the Brisbane City Council, Ipswich City Council and the Gold Coast City Council. Instructors are qualified cycling instructors and programs are individually designed around the organizations needs. Beginner’s road safety and basic bicycle riding skills courses are taught in off road areas such as school ovals and parks, they are designed mainly for school aged children or for adults that have not ridden for some time and need to brush up on their skills and familiarity of the regulations and responsibilities for bicycle riders. The intermediate programs include some on road components such as.– passing parked cars, safely negotiating intersections and choosing a safe riding ‘position’ on the road to be most visible to other vehicles. The advanced courses step up in proficiency to where the cyclist becomes totally integrated with other road users. There are also bike maintenance courses that are offered which are facilitated by a qualified bicycle mechanic to ensure that you understand how to repair and maintain your bicycle.
