About Australian Women In Music

Australian Women in Music (AWM) is a not for profit charity committed to advancing gender equality across all areas of the Australian Music Industry. AWM is the Producer of the annual Australian Women in Music Awards & Conference (AWMA) founded in 2018 by Executive Producer Vicki Gordon. The event was a watershed moment for the Australian music industry creating an inclusive, diverse platform to acknowledge women as vital, essential contributors to the future economic growth of the sector. AWM works with First Nations female artists, gender diverse artists, musicians and music practitioners, female artists from Regional and Remote communities, multicultural artists, disabled artists, students and elders to build networks which encourage meaningful connections. Our aim is to amplify positive role models, address gender biases, break down cultural barriers and remove negative stereotypes. We also provide a safe and supportive environment for emerging female and gender diverse practitioners working in male dominated areas such as technical production, audio engineering, lighting design and marketing. AWMA 2025 will be presented over two days in Brisbane on 8 - 9 October and will include a Conference Program, First Nations Women's Music Showcase, pre-show Youth events, Award Ceremony, Concert and After Party. The AWMA Conference provides an inclusive platform to highlight critical pathways required to rebuild a more equitable and inclusive culture for the future health of the sector.
