About Australian X And Y Spectrum Support Limited
AXYS Australia is a not for profit organisation run by volunteers who have a direct link to someone with an X & Y chromosome variations. We are individuals, parents or families who are continuously working hard to support, empower and inform. AXYS has participated in research with the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Genetic Service Network Victoria focusing on better outcomes for people seeking peer support. We have made representations to Australian Human Rights Commission Intersex Reference Group, Victorian Intersex Advisory Group, and the Federal Government on the Medicare classification for Assisted Reproductive Technologies for those with intersex diagnoses. We communicate and engage with health professionals at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Genetics Support Network Victoria and we participate in focus groups, forums and other events. We are the only national peer-support group that provides specific support for individuals with X and Y sex chromosome variations (one of the most common Intersex variations) in Australia.
