Avanto Partners LP (“Avanto”) is a Dallas-Fort Worth-based investment manager that launched on January 3, 2023. Avanto’s objective is to generate attractive absolute returns for its investors while holding an uncompromising focus on capital preservation. Avanto uses creative idea generation, extensive fundamental and primary research, and a long-term investment horizon to construct a concentrated portfolio of ~10-25 high-conviction, long and short equity positions. Avanto searches for investment opportunities globally and across sectors, focusing on businesses that are i) small- and mid-cap, ii) underfollowed by the market, iii) undergoing internal structural or strategic changes, and/or iv) impacted by extraneous themes that may have a lasting impact on the business’s growth prospects or unit economics. Tom Cosper, the Founder and Managing Partner of Avanto, was previously Partner and Managing Director at Bayberry Capital Partners LP, a global long/short equity fund manager. Tom played a leading role in Bayberry’s launch and development. He also worked as an analyst with Sonoma Capital and Seawall Capital. Tom began his career in investment banking at Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. and later with Moelis & Company in restructuring advisory. Tom holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in Finance from Michigan State University.
