About Aviation Systems International
Aviation Systems International has pioneering the next generation of high performance enhanced SODAR wind profilers and wake turbulence measurement systems, eSODAR. Designed for all weather operations in high noise environments such as airports and the urban environment. ASI has developed an eSODAR wind profiler specifically for UAV operations in the urban environment. This portable wind profiler uses the same autocalibrate parameters that constantly monitor and optimize the system per the realtime MET and atmospheric conditions. Detection of the inversion layer is essential for fog forecast and fog nowcast. The ASI eSODAR windprofiler, while detecting atmospheric conditions real time, provides the location and relative strength of the inversion layer. The ASI windprofiler detects the thermal rise and the height of the inversion layer as it forms, providing the nowcast onset of fog conditions. The intensity of the layer is identified, providing the rate of fog formation, fog intensity levels, and the dissipation rate. The wind profile data can be ingested directly into the Flight Management System, providing enhanced wind information for the automation, such as the onboard automated windshear alert system. The aircraft automation response becomes proactive, instead of reactive. ASI eSODAR wind profiler and wake turbulence measurement systems have been designed and tested for aviation in the airport environment.
