About Axion Power International Inc

We develop, design, manufacture and sell advanced energy storage solutions based on our patented PbC® lead carbon battery technology. The PbC® battery is based on traditional sealed AGM lead acid technology, however the lead negative has been replaced with our patented activated carbon electrode. This unique product offers many advantages over traditional lead acid including longer cycle life (2,500 -3,000 cycles at 100% DOD), faster recharge (up to 10x), ability to operate in a partial state of charge, and better stability in strings (batteries self-equalize state of charge). While offering better performance the PbC® battery maintains the safety record of lead acid and remains nearly 100% recyclable. We design systems that utilize these properties for applications such as off grid lighting, remote power/ telemetry, residential energy storage, commercial & grid scale energy storage, renewable energy support (wind and solar), hybrid electric commercial vehicles, and micro hybrid (start/ stop) to name a few.
