About Azgour Art Group

Azgour Art group provides a rich educational program of engaging live discussions, professionally edited video demonstrations, relevant content, flexible creative work, an interactive community space, and just the right amount of structure to help artists build and maintain a fruitful art-making practice and to create consistently strong paintings. Designed for artists – regardless of medium, style, and experience level. We dive deep into concept development and process twice a month during live Class Meetings on Zoom, using examples from art history and member posts to illustrate concepts of focus. The main focus of our group is our Creative Work – Projects, Assignments, Exercises, and Challenges. If you’re diving into a Project (a group of paintings), the seven-unit structure assists you in the process of reflecting on previous work, proposing a new project, taking pieces to completion, and evaluating results – all within your own scope and timeline. In the Forums spaces, members interact by sharing their creative work and exchanging feedback, resources, and ideas in a safe space. Every Project post receives instructor feedback and we often discuss member submissions during the Class Meetings. Critiques give members the opportunity to discuss their projects and receive instructor feedback. Content, consisting of a growing library of articles, video demonstrations, and external resources, is available to all active members. We have a wonderful opportunity here. Through the versatile format of the web, we can interact in ways that would be impossible in the traditional studio classroom. Michael Azgour, Founder and Instructor, draws upon his experience as a professional artist and university lecturer for fifteen years in creating Azgour Art Group -- a flexible learning platform and interactive community designed to help artists take their paintings to the next level.
