About Azores Wine Company
At Azores Wine Company we produce unique wines, full of identity, pure, fresh, challenging and with a touch of salt... as life should be! We work in the recovery of an endangered grape variety and in the recovery of the Pico Island Vineyard Landscape, one of the 14 wine regions classified by UNESCO as World Heritage. Volcanic wines, born at the base of the largest volcano in Portugal, in the middle of the Atlantic, are wines of pure volcanic terroir. The soils are rocky and defy the very definition of agricultural soil. In the crevices of the rocks by the sea, which forces the vineyard to be protected by walls (currais), from the strong and saline winds of the Atlantic, where nothing else could grow, the grapes matured as much as the brave Azorean climate allowed.
