About Azzim Dukes Initiative

The Azzim Dukes Initiative is a Philadelphia-based non-profit associated with Maleek Jackson Boxing Gym. We aim to reduce gun violence by investing in Philadelphia youth ages 7-17. By providing boxing instruction, mentoring, and meals we help kids develop empowering identities, cultivate creative pursuits, and achieve positive community ties. Maleek Jackson, born at 17th and Christian in South Philly, watched his brother Pud get shot when he was 7 years old and later lost two more brothers to gun violence, including Azzim, for whom our program is named. ADI works to ensure our programs are aligned with the strengths and needs of targeted communities by centering the following values and beliefs in everything we do: 🥊Gun violence is preventable– We don’t accept crisis as a condition. We offer kids another path forward through proactive intervention, programming, and community-rooted care. 🥊No one should be turned away–Every kid deserves access, regardless of background, behavior, or bank account. We are committed to keeping our doors open — always. 🥊Emotional literacy is a survival tool–We teach kids to name their feelings, embrace and regulate their responses, and take ownership of their emotional health. 🥊Change starts with us– Our staff, mentors, and supporters lead by example — showing up daily with integrity, empathy, and belief in every child we serve.
