About B.I.O.N.I.C. Team
B.I.O.N.I.C. Teams are a worldwide movement in schools (elementary through college) that were started by a professional school counselor involved with the Columbine tragedy and then four suicides at her own school. B.I.O.N.I.C. Teams provide hope, support, and connection through individual outreaches to students who are new, bullied, sick, hospitalized, or lose loved ones to let them know they are "seen," they "matter," and people care. Difficult experiences in young people’s lives can spiral them down into depression, loneliness, or more serious issues like suicidal thoughts. The B.I.O.N.I.C. Team (Believe It Or Not I Care) was developed in schools and groups of youth to empower young people to reach out to hurting peers resulting in over 180,000 people being impacted and starting a worldwide movement of caring. Challenging times, including tragedy and illness, enter each person’s life. Acknowledgement of those challenges and learning basic ways to support each other results in easing their load, helping them get through the difficult time, and then inspiring them to reach out to others facing similar circumstances. Young people learn how to do this and are infusing their communities with a contagious compassion through B.I.O.N.I.C. Teams. Then those students continue their compassionate caring the rest of their lives as we saw happen through our B.I.O.N.I.C. alumni who started food banks and other types of community outreach projects in their communities during the COVID pandemic. And the compassion is spreading. Schools in all 50 states in the U.S. and over 35 countries have inquired about starting B.I.O.N.I.C. Teams. Neighborhoods, businesses, organizations, churches, and other community groups are inquiring about B.I.O.N.I.C. Teams too. Contact us for more information to be a part of this worldwide movement of caring.
