Bags of Taste builds long-term food resilience through a unique, at-home cooking programme that empowers people to take control of their diets, improve their health, and save money. We work primarily with individuals facing significant challenges such as mental health issues, disability, addiction, and poverty, who want to eat better but face deep-rooted barriers such as low confidence, high food costs, limited access to fresh ingredients, and a lack of cooking skills. Participants typically reduce their junk food consumption by 90%, save over £1,000 a year on food, and experience significant improvements in both physical and mental wellbeing for themselves and their families. Bags of Taste operates in 15 locations across the UK, and has supported over 14,000 participants to date, delivering more than 100,000 meals with the help of over 200 dedicated volunteers.
