Balakian Farms was founded in 1925 by Zadig Balakian, an immigrant from Armenia. His eldest, John Balakian, continued farming. Owners of Balakian Farms are members of the Balakian Family. In the 1990’s, the farm transitioned to organic practices, and began growing heirloom tomatoes. In the summer, you can find our produce and products at the Bay Area farmer’s markets and several retailers. Farming is more than an occupation for Balakian Farms: it is a way of life. Balakian Farms produces Organic Blended Heirloom Tomatoes - a healthier, tastier alternative to canned tomatoes. Balakian Farms grows peaches, plums, nectarines, pluots, apricots, lemons, eggplant, Armenian cucumbers, pomegranates, persimmons, summer squash and heirloom tomatoes. At Balakian Farms, employees are considered the most important asset in our business. Many have been part of our farm for several decades. Balakian Farm’s history illustrates its deep roots in tradition, family, inclusion and integrity.
