About Ball Straathof
Ball Straathof is one of the largest specialty seed and young plant companies in Southern Africa. We supply annual and perennial seed and plugs to professional bedding, ornamental and cut flower growers, as well as small market farmers, landscapers and parks/recreational departments. This means using only the highest quality seed and cuttings, and offering the best range and service. To be the best requires us to always have the leading edge and to be one step ahead of the competition. The company was founded in 1952 by Cornelius Augustinus Straathof, better known as Kees. It is a family business in its third generation. In 2001 Ball Horticultural Company of the U.S.A and Straathof Seeds joined forces, to ensure even better genetics, quality, and service to the South African industry. This gives Ball Straathof the opportunity to draw knowledge and experience from a large pool of expertise from some of the best in the industry. Our retail brand, Kirchhoffs, has been the gardener’s partner in South Africa for more than 100 years. Established in 1896, the eye catching seed packets are still a favourite, available in garden centres and stores nationwide.
