About Baltic to Black Sea Alliance
International NGO Alliance for Regional Security and Democracy. Currently BBSA unites Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan. The Alliance is looking to expand to other Baltic and Black Sea countries. The BBSA was founded on October 31, 2008 in Riga by more than 40 founding members representing different professional groups coming from Latvia, Georgia, and Ukraine as a reaction to Georgia-Russia war. The primary goals of the BBSA are: - Facilitate Georgia’s and Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO; - Facilitate consolidation of free, democratic, socially and politically harmonic society in Georgia and Ukraine; - Facilitate the creation of a new international alliance in support for Georgia and Ukraine in order to actively assist the secure and democratic development of these two countries; - Education of local publics in the Baltic States and elsewhere by attracting attention of the international society to topics important for Georgia’s and Ukraine’s democratic development, security and successful Euro-Atlantic integration. Partner organisations within the Alliance currently are: - "Baltic to Black Sea Alliance" in Latvia - "Latvian Transatlantic Organisation" in Latvia - "Baltic to Black Sea Alliance - Georgia" in Georgia - "new Generation - new Initiative" in Georgia - "Georgian Foundation for International and Strategic Studies" in Georgia - "Georgian Foundation for International and Strategic Studies" in Georgia - "Europe House" in Georgia - Foundation "Suspilnist" in Ukraine - "Centre for Geopolitical Studies" in Lithuania - "Analytical Center on Globalization and Regional Cooperation" in Armenia BBSA is open to accept new members (organisations and individuals) into the Alliance.
