*𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰* Put simple, bandit was a social marketplace - comparable to TikTok Shop (before it existed) with "buy-together" superpowers (word-of-mouth virality to merchants, group deals to consumers). --- 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗣𝗧 More than 500 quality brands got to showcase their products to thousands of new potential customers and sell B2B-like volumes but D2C (margins). Consumers did the marketing by inviting others to fill up the group deals in within 48h (urgency). On the other side, consumers could discover new quality products in a TikTok-like feed and have the thrill while rushing to fill up the groups (payments were reserved, if groups were unsuccessful - reverted). --- 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 Built with a "billion or nothing" mindset by a capable team (serial founders, ex-Revolut, Zalando, Bolt, Meta, Uber, etc.), we raised €1.6M Pre-Seed (#2 largest in Norway!) and launched bandit's B2B2C marketplace. During 4-months beta: • 60 quality merchants onboarded • 25,000 users joined (0.5% of pilot market; no paid ads) • 14,000+ orders placed (€300K GMV) • Partnered with Carrefour (€85Bn Ann. Rev.) & Zall Group (€16Bn Ann. Rev.) bandit became the fastest growing marketplace globally to date. Despite being piloted in a small market - Norway (5M people). --- 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗘 Within 2 months, the founders pitched to 140+ VCs (80+ inbounds from the likes of Accel, General Catalyst and Felix Capital) while runway was burning down and business was being neglected. The growth slowed down, angels still wanted to start the Seed party but not VCs. It wasn't good enough. We closed down, took the learnings & moved on.
