About Bank of Thailand
The Bank of Thailand (BOT) was first set up as the Thai National Banking Bureau. The Bank of Thailand Act was promulgated on 28 April 1942 vesting upon the Bank of Thailand the responsibility for all central banking functions. The Bank of Thailand started operations on 10 December 1942. Our vision is to be an organization of vision and principle that engages with stakeholders in pursuit of Thailand’s sustainable economic well-being by promoting a stable financial environment to achieve sustainable and inclusive economic development. The role of BOT are to maintain the stability of the national economy by looking forward to the future with a principle and prudence, to supervise banking and finance industry and to protect financial consumers and control scope of banking industry in the regional areas including a study and monitor of illegal financial activities and the financial status of any business groups impacting the economic and financial conditions. We collaborate with governments, government agencies, businesses, academics and the public sector to ensure that the country has financial stability for sustainable economic well-being through our head office and extensive network.
