Managing and advising private equity funds with approximately $5.5 billion in combined assets, Baring Ventures is a group of companies with a portfolio operating throughout Central Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Currently, its largest portfolio company is Kaspi, a leading consumer-focused ecosystem in Kazakhstan. Led by Mike Calvey, David Bernstein and Alex Baumgaertner, Baring Ventures succeeds Baring Vostok in managing a group of private equity funds that has funded and helped develop more than 100 entrepreneurial projects since its launch in 1994. Baring Ventures has over 50 global institutional investors and has advised funds that raised $3 billion of institutional capital. It has also distributed over $6 billion in cash to investors and has taken eight portfolio companies public on global stock exchanges. Of the eight companies, five later exceeded $10 billion in market capitalization. Other notable current investments include the Mexican digital bank Plata, London-based global fintech platform Revolut, and Paris-based Blablacar, the world’s leading community-based travel app.
