About Barnsley Healthcare Federation
Launched in 2015, Barnsley Healthcare Federation is an NHS provider and not-for-profit Community Interest Company that aims to improve the way primary care is delivered in Barnsley. We manage the Barnsley Primary Care Network (PCN), which is made up of 32 GP practices, and run the iHEART Barnsley out of hours GP service. We also deliver a number of community healthcare services, such as health and wellbeing coaching, social prescribing and first contact physiotherapy, and directly manage BHF GP practices. Our aim is to provide the best care to patients, represent the interests of our GPs and work with partners across the borough and nationally to help address some of the challenges facing the NHS today. We are proud of our dedicated team who deliver healthcare directly to patients or are working hard in the background to keep our essential services running smoothly. Drawing upon the knowledge and expertise of health professionals from across the borough, our vision is to deliver a robust publicly funded health and social care service that meets the needs of the local community. With many areas of the UK facing acute shortages around recruiting and retaining healthcare professionals, we understand the importance of creating opportunities to attract and retain individuals keen to build a career in the sector. Education is at the heart of our offering: Creating opportunities to help nurture and retain the skills needed by dedicated healthcare professionals to deliver a service of which we can all be proud. Our unique, collaborative approach brings together professionals from across Barnsley’s healthcare, voluntary and social care sectors, helping us to meet the needs of patients living and working in the borough, reduce pressure on accident and emergency admissions and facilitate a holistic approach to care services provision.
