Barton House, a distinctive place for Memory Care residents, is designed to promote independence, safety and comfort. People who are challenged with dementia related diseases have a very specific set of needs - space to move about freely, activity to help keep their minds alert and an intimate, non-institutionalized setting in which to live. For people who have Alzheimer’s or dementia, moments are what matter. When you can no longer rely on memory to guide and make sense of your experience, moments have greater significance, not less. That’s why every person who works at Barton House is committed to the moment—and to providing our residents every opportunity to experience comfort, inclusion, and happiness—regardless of how aware they seem. Located on 3.5 wooded acres in Nashville, TN, Barton House is a large, single-story home with 20 private resident rooms surrounding a formal living room, an activity area, a dining room and an “open” kitchen. Our philosophy of care is really quite simple: Focus on strengths, rather than weaknesses. Never stop trying to communicate. That’s why our philosophy is to deliver the best life possible, for our residents and their families. We believe in the dignity of each moment: kind words and a hand to hold, a clean shirt and neatly combed hair, an invitation to sing along, even when words don’t come easily. We believe in answering questions and keeping families informed, but always focusing on the positive. We believe in transparency, and access, patience and good humor.
