About BasedMip
BasedMIP is a new paradigm for modeling future climate and ecology with a focus on scenarios that can be used as part of participatory planning activities. It is intended as a tool that can be used by educators, media makers, and anyone interested in exploring climate futures and ecological possibilities. BasedMIP is currently under development through a collaborative process between UC Davis student researchers and faculty across disciplines, including in STEM, the social sciences, the arts and humanities. All metrics, indicators, and modeling artifacts that are part of BasedMIP are slated to undergo cross-disciplinary evaluation and peer-review, with a focus on accuracy, ethics, and legibility. BasedMIP is slated to be "soft launched" in the 2025-26 academic year.
