About BASIS

Established in 1998, BASIS is the national trade body for Bangladesh’s software, IT, and IT-enabled services (ITES) industries. What began with 18 visionary members has grown into a dynamic organization representing over 2,700 member companies, collectively accounting for the majority of Bangladesh’s ICT exports. BASIS empowers members by fostering ambition, building capacity, and ensuring sustainable growth to create a globally competitive ecosystem. Its vision is to position Bangladesh as a reliable, quality-driven IT hub. To achieve this, BASIS focuses on key priorities like facilitating access to capital, bridging skill gaps, expanding local and global markets, and supporting startups. BASIS collaborates with the government, private sector, and international stakeholders to advocate for progressive policies and ensure members’ concerns are addressed. Flagship initiatives like BASIS SOFTEXPO highlight Bangladeshi innovation on the global stage, while programs such as the National ICT Awards and Luna Shamsuddoha Awards celebrate excellence and inclusivity. Year-round seminars and workshops ensure members stay up-to-date with industry trends and practical skills. To address the industry’s skill gap, its in-house training institute-BITM, offers over 919 training programs, benefiting 60,000+ graduates, to prepare industry-ready talent. These programs bridge the gap between traditional education and real-world industry demands, empowering Bangladesh’s youth to thrive in the knowledge-based digital economy. Through active working groups, BASIS unites 1,500+ CXOs across 30+ ICT sub-domains and fosters collaboration via country-focused desks. It also shapes national policies, resolves disputes, and publishes resources to drive industry growth. BASIS believes in bridging digital divides, fueling transformative innovation, and creating opportunities for all.
