About Baton Rouge Bar Association

The Baton Rouge Bar Association has been serving the legal profession and the public for more than 88 years. With a voluntary membership of over 2400 lawyers, the Baton Rouge Bar Association is one of the largest voluntary bar associations in the State of Louisiana. It has long held a record of being one of the most active and innovative bar associations in the United States. The organization is managed by its officers and board of directors who are elected by the membership. The organization has an executive director with a staff of ten. The membership is a cross-section of lawyers from the greater Baton Rouge area and surrounding parishes, from solo practitioners to members of some of the largest law firms in the state. Our committees and Board of Directors represent all facets of the profession at all levels of practice and in all areas of practice. The work of the Baton Rouge Bar Association is conducted through its committees and sections, attending to problems of improving the public image of lawyers, improving the competence of member lawyers, the quality of the profession, the practice of law, the operation of the courts and serving the community in a number of ways. Vision of the Baton Rouge Bar Association The Baton Rouge Bar Association will be a diverse mix of young energy and old traditions in service to members, the community and the legal profession. The purpose and mission of Baton Rouge Bar Association shall be: To advance the rule of law To promote the administration of justice To uphold the honor of the Courts and the legal profession To foster cordial relationships among its members To encourage and promote continuing legal education for its members To promote the welfare of the profession and the well-being of its members. To assist in making legal services available to those who are unable to afford legal assistance and representation.
