About Bay Federal Credit Union
Bay Federal Credit Union was started in 1957 when local school teachers pooled their money together to start a credit union. That investment has grown through an amazing journey of involvement into the area’s largest locally-owned financial institution, with over $1.6 billion in assets. Bay Federal provides full service financial products and solutions to Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito counties. Whether a community member is looking to buy a home, purchase a car, save some money, or access the latest in banking technology, our local and friendly employees are here to help. As a local, member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative, we are passionate about contributing to the community and being an integral part of its incredible story. Each year, our employees volunteer their time and donate their money to local non-profits, schools, and events. Our managers serve on local boards in an effort to be involved, to understand challenges, and, most importantly, to make a real difference. Bay Federal also supports countless local organizations that provide community improvement programs, as well as area schools, through organizational partnerships and sponsorship. From our founding as a teacher’s credit union, Bay Federal has continued our commitment to education. We offer annual student scholarships and run a financial education and outreach program that touches the lives of more than 3,000 community members — most of them students — per year. Bay Federal's story continues to grow. In 2019, we were named the "Best Credit Union to Work For" by Credit Union Journal! We have a thriving culture of excellent service, community support and fun.
