About BC Family Hearing Resource Society
The BC Family Hearing Resource Society, a not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to providing a welcoming place for all families with babies and young children with hearing loss. Our flexible and family-centred specialized care ensures that children receive intervention as early as possible. Our aim is to work in partnership with families to provide quality programming appropriate for each individual child and family. Whether families choose to focus on sign language instruction, or cochlear implantation, supporting early language development will ensure positive outcomes through a strong foundation of learning to listen and communicate effectively. In addition to our Resource Centre, the BC Family Hearing Resource Society provides the Surrey Early Speech and Language Program (SELSP). This program serves children in our local community who have speech and language learning challenges unrelated to hearing loss. Our services have met internationally recognized standards of quality in the provision of our services. BC Family Hearing is CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited, recently earning our fourth consecutive 3 year accreditation- the highest possible achievement- and successfully meeting all 899 conformance standards. We operate out of our Surrey, British Columbia office, but offer outreach services to healthcare providers across the province. We share our expertise by providing ongoing consultation, workshops/training for parents and professionals, resources and educational materials through our lending library; and by connecting families throughout the province. The innovative technology of the Virtual Hearing Resource Centre has enabled us the flexibility to deliver direct services to you and your community for your convenience.
