About BC Trades Equity Society (Formerly, BC Tradeswomen Society)
The BC Tradeswomen Society (BCTWS) was originally founded in 2017 by a group of tradeswomen that desired to advocate for all tradeswomen to have better working conditions, improve the jobsite culture, enhance the health and safety of jobsites, and to increase the number and retention of women in trades. One of the most important accomplishments of the BCTWS is as a founding partner in the creation the BC Centre for Women in the Trades (BCCWITT), through its lobbying, researching and grant writing efforts. The BCTWS continues to advocate for women in trades but has expanded its scope to including advocating for two-spirited, non-binary and trans persons in trades as well.
