Beak was founded in the year of 1965 by Thomas Beak as an environmental consulting company in Canada. The company developed into an international consulting enterprise providing services to both the private and public sectors. In 1994 Beak Consultants GmbH was founded in Freiberg as a European subsidiary. From its beginning as a small engineering office, the German company developed into a modern internationally competitive consulting enterprise. In 2003 the North American operations of Beak International Inc. were acquired by the public company Stantec Consulting Limited. Beak Consultants GmbH was refinanced as an independent company, retaining the rights to the name Beak.
