We motivate kids in high poverty schools to excel by teaching pragmatic meal preparation, and the power of collaboration. www.beautifulweeat.com What We Do Beautiful We Eat is a public-private partnership that enables kids in the highest poverty schools to create delicious, nutritious and affordable meals by exploring the art and science of cooking and teamwork, and thereby establishes a practical framework for addressing child hunger and for increasing both academic and civic engagement. Beautiful We Eat brings the experience and resources of meal preparation and consumption in the home to the highest-poverty, lowest-performing elementary and middle schools. It is based on the premise that high-quality and experiential-based education can strengthen schools and communities, and motivate kids to strive for success in neighborhoods facing extreme economic and educational challenges. Beautiful We Eat and its partners provide kids with resources and materials designed to prepare a meal, and to tackle projects efficiently and effectively through collaboration. The process is designed to increase participants' chances of success and to raise the visibility of their short and long-term achievements. Key to these efforts is rigorous programming that is integrated into the school and the community. At the same time, love and fulfillment are inherent to the process of meal preparation and the giving and receiving of food.
