About Bedeque Bay Environmental Management Association

The Bedeque Bay Environmental Management Association (BBEMA) is a not-for-profit, charitable organization governed by a board of directors that broadly represents the people of the Bedeque Bay Watershed and surrounds. BBEMA works with community partners to protect the natural resources of the Bedeque Bay Watershed. Engaging community stakeholders in the environmental well-being of the watershed through programs that emphasize the conservation of biodiversity, protection of natural habitats and healthy ecosystems. Providing education and volunteer opportunities that involve community members on key issues of: soil conservation, land use planning, habitat enhancement initiatives, water quality monitoring and stream restoration. The Bedeque Bay Watershed area is composed of six smaller sub-watersheds; Sunbury Cove, the Wilmot River, the Dunk River, the Bradshaw River, Seven Mile Bay/Salutation Cove and Schurman’s Point and represents a large and varied community base (tourism, agriculture resource sectors, fishery/aquaculture, Industrial, rural and urban communities. OUR VISION – We envision a caring and engaged community that contributes to clean water, thriving habitats and healthy ecosystems. OUR Mission – We work with community partners of the Bedeque Bay watershed to protect and promote the health of its waters and natural resources.
