Single use plastic is one of the biggest challenges of our time. Microplastic is now ubiquitous and is even found in almost all purchased water. A WWF study has shown that each one of us eats about one credit card of plastic per week. Plastic and the plasticizers it contains are known to cause serious illnesses such as unfertility, ADHD and even cancer. Of course, there are uses where it is not possible to do without plastic. For example, many industrial applications or medical products rely on plastic-based parts. Fortunately, however, great efforts are already being made to recycle plastic or replace it with sustainable alternatives. However, the plastic film we use at home to wrap cheese or sandwiches or just quickly cover a bowl cannot be recycled. This is due to the nature of the film and the plasticisers it contains, which mean that most modern recycling machines cannot process it. Our beeskin beeswax wraps are purely natural, guaranteed to be reusable for 1 year, and at the end of their life they are easily disposed of in the compost or used as a natural fire starter. Due to the unique properties of the raw materials, food will keep fresh even longer. Considering that we waste about 75kg of food per capita per year, this is a pretty important aspect of our beeskins. Every single beeskin is made in Berlin and packed and shipped in our own production facility. This way we can guarantee you the highest quality possible.
