About Begin Anew of Middle Tennessee

Begin Anew empowers individuals to overcome the obstacles caused by poverty by providing education, mentoring, and resources. Begin Anew serves the Middle Tennessee area through three locations in Davidson County (Nashville, Madison, and Woodbine) as well as one location in Williamson County (Franklin). The program provides three curriculum tracks for students: High School Equivalency test preparation, English Language Learning, and Computer and Job Skills. Enrollment in our services is open to persons of all faiths and culture. When individuals enroll in Begin Anew, they find small classes led by volunteers eager to teach and make a personal investment of time. Each student attends educational classes, has access to community resources, and is matched with an Encourager (Mentor) who provides support, encouragement, and accountability. A student attends four hours of class a week at no cost. Our faith-based educational program and missional, life-changing community is composed of more than 300 volunteers and a ministry staff. Each volunteer dedicates time and energy to offer mercy and care, as Jesus did for the underserved and the overlooked. Poverty is a multifaceted condition, and each individual or family’s situation is unique. A holistic approach of service provides adult learners and their families the best opportunity to change their circumstances and their lives. Begin Anew is nationally affiliated and certified by CHRISTIAN WOMEN’S JOB CORPS (CWJC®) and CHRISTIAN MEN’S JOB CORPS (CMJC®) ministries which serves thousands of individuals through more than 200 registered sites in 45 states and in five countries. There are twenty-four CWJC/CMJC sites in Tennessee.
