BeNetivei Udi is an Israeli non-profit organization dedicated to advancing societal resilience, promoting equality, and bridging social gaps within Israeli society through national educational and community initiatives. Founded in 1994 by Mordechai and Georgette Elgrably, the organization was established in honor of their son, Udi, a paratrooper and communications officer who lost his life in combat while defending the country in the security zone in Lebanon. The core mission of BeNetivei Udi is to instill the values exemplified by Udi into modern Israeli society. To this end, the organization operates 3 flagship national programs: Nitzanim, Garinei Udi, & Out of the Depths (Mimamakim). Nitzanim, winner of the IDF Chief of Staff Award for Excellence, works to narrow technological, gender, and socioeconomics gaps by training youth (grades 9-12) for service in the IDF elite units and integration in the Israeli high-tech industry. Garinei Udi is a youth leadership program bringing together secular, traditional, and religious youth (grades 9 – 12) for joint learning and volunteering for the community. The program aims to foster educational and social awareness among youth with leadership potential, and addresses the pressing issue of unity and building bridges. Out of the Depths (Mimamakim) specializes in providing professional support to bereaved families. The program assists with arranging online shivah, providing emotional support, offering parental consultation (via video, chat,or phone) and enabling consultation with a religious leader or spiritual counselor. With a proven 30 year track record of driving positive change, BeNetivei Udi's national initiatives have demonstrated a tangible impact on national resilience, promoting equality of opportunity, and narrowing social gaps within Israeli society.
