About Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative (BVMI)
The BVMI Healthcare Center works to improve the overall health of working, low-income, uninsured residents of Bergen County by providing free primary and preventive health care, promoting patient education, and reducing the need for emergency care. BVMI utilizes the services of volunteer physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and others wherever possible. By creating A Culture of Caring, staff and volunteers at BVMI respect the dignity and individuality of patients. On an annual basis, over 75 volunteer medical providers at this nonprofit organization treat 1,200 patients in 8,000 patient visits.
