About Bescansa Laboratories

In 1812 Mr. Fermin Bescansa Medioroz founded in La Coruña a drug store, therefore it is the oldest laboratory of Spain In 1843 Dr. Antonio Casares, related to the Bescansa’s family funded the Bescansa’s Pharmacy which is situated in the city centre of Santiago de Compostela, just as it looks today it started to generate the first line of products. Since the early XX century, marks always associated to Bescansa started to get known, such as LAXANTES, MAREOSAN, DIGESTIVAS,... They were pioneers applying advertisement for pharmaceutical products, using airplanes, city trains, aerostatic globes etc. as examples for the most expectacular. Due to the entry of several big enterprises in Spain Bescansa's products started to decrease. In the early 70's the product's catalogue was reduced until the actual one, without nearly any commercial support. In the 90’s the laboratory participates in a business headed to the production of natural substances founded by Mr. Pedro Bescansa de la Gándara. From the experience, the laboratory starts to develop new formulas based on the extract of standards from the most interesting (medical) plants. Some of these formulas are applied in registered products or new products that are waiting for commercializing. Present Currently Laboratorios Bescansa is an industry that has an image and renewed facilities. I+D+I agreements have been made with the University of Santiago de Compostela. Account in its catalog with products of always proven and improved over time and market feedback such as laxatives, acne products and hand protection creams, also has new product lines based on extracts of medicinal plants such as: such as Laxative Bescansa Normal, Docuxen (geriatric laxative) and Ginkgo Biloba Bescansa (tablets and drops). Future Currently Laboratorios Bescansa is immersed in a new project to transform its facilities for the manufacture of the dermal products of its ACNOSAN® and GLICERMINA® brands.
