Best Foot Forward (BFF) is a ministry that was founded at The Gathering, which is a non-denominational church which meets at The Classical Academy at Explorer and Stout. Since its founding, BFF has grown to include Village 7 Presbyterian and other churches, as well. More than 100 people “graduated” from the BFF workshops in 2009. BFF takes a “start from scratch” approach to the job seeker’s situation. Our workshops, which span a Friday evening and a full Saturday, begin with six hours of “Are You Out of Position,” a copyrighted seminar presented by Kimberly Hessler, a certified career coach in Colorado Springs. This seminar is designed to ensure that the career path you are looking at truly fits within your values, skills, and strengths. Once you’ve determined your top values, skills, and strengths, you’ll be led through a series of workshops that will help you draft your resume, build and use a network, prepare for your interview, improve your image, and negotiate your salary. We have a special treat built into our program: several local business and HR leaders participate in a panel discussion during our Saturday brown-bag working lunch, providing you with up to the minute information for job seekers. By the end of Saturday afternoon, you’ll have been given all the tools you need to make sure that your career change campaign is effective and on target.
