“Homeless Street Outreach - Providing food, water, clothing, hygiene, harm reduction supplies, resource brochures, and referrals. Walking the street of Calgary on foot every Tues, Weds , Sat & Sun 5-9 pm” We are a Non-Profit Organization that started as a grassroots initiative summer (2015) in Calgary, Alberta. When we first started as a small group of peers getting together wanting to help the homeless., A few sandwiches were made and juice boxes purchased. A few of that group led by Chaz Smith, who has lived experience of homelessness and dreamed of an Outreach team, saw the need and had the passion to help. They then decided to make it reoccurring every Wednesday, and then adding a Saturday, and Sunday outreach. We knew we could make a difference, we knew we could help. Over many weeks of research and education, then months, followed by years of hard work. We then grew into a non profit in 2018 that we have today. We are 90%% volunteer run and funded. We just started by helping one person at a time. We have grown in our capacity thanks to donations from community members all across Calgary & Area. We are now able to offer assistance to hundreds of vulnerable and at risk citizens each shift of boots on the ground. This movement is all about inspiring people to be the change in Calgary. Whomever you are or whatever you do for a living you can help. Our group is all about loving acts of kindness to help homeless individuals and better our communities. Our Mission: Through volunteer power we provide tangible necessities, systems navigation & advocacy to help end the cycles of homelessness. Values: - Empathy, Compassion, Advocacy, Empowerment
