BETTER is a pioneering leader in charitable education within East Timor, working with communities to give a 'hand-up' rather than a 'hand out.' By empowering the Timorese through education, skills, and mentorship, a ripple effect is created that impacts individuals, communities, and society for generations to come. Education is fundamental to a BETTER future. From counting, spelling, reading, writing, common sense, and much more, education is the foundation. Education structures, while improving, have quite a way to go to achieve strong education outcomes for the future of Timor Leste. With 51% of the population below the age of 20 years old, education is vital to create a transformed future for these people and their nation at large. BETTER boldly strives to create community focused leaders who strive morally and intellectually, challenging the status quo and driving change in their families and communities. This will cause a ripple effect to the nation itself, breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering BETTER futures through the power of education. BETTER creates an environment that promotes the development of a well-rounded person.
