Every child has the right to smile with confidence. A smile can be the delivery of love or the antidote to misery. A smile can unlock hidden potentials or provide endless opportunities. We are a global community that believes a child's smile is the most valuable asset in this world. We are reshaping the landscape of education guided by our mission to promote oral health care to underserved children around the globe. We have now provided dental hygiene education and products to nearly 8,000 children with the help of more than 900 teacher and student volunteers. Founded by Indian Hill High School senior Diana Yue in 2017, she was shocked when learning her father's former coal-mining colleagues smoked cigarettes by sticking paper and grass together with the plaque in their teeth. When she visited her hometown, she learned her 6-year-old cousin has never brushed her teeth. Her parents' harsh upbringing in rural China during the Cultural Revolution and the circumstances of her current relatives exposed her to the bare-faced reality of poverty. Their stories not only marked the way for Diana to serve for the community, but also the beginnings of BEST.
