About BiBi

‘Bibi’, translating in Urdu as ‘lady of the house’, is used as a term of endearment for grandmothers across the Indian subcontinent. The new restaurant’s concept draws inspiration from Sharma’s own Bibi and her ancestral teachings. The chef’s South Asian roots and passion for Indian cultures are exemplary in a relaxed and playful menu influenced by the street carts and roadside cafés from Punjab in the north, to Kerala in the south. Chef Chet Sharma’s culinary pedigree also shines through at BiBi, both in the techniques used to form each dish, but also in the kitchen’s focus on exceptional British produce. He earnt a name for himself as Development Chef at some of the UK’s most prestigious fine dining establishments - including Mark Birchall’s Moor Hall and Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume - as well as the world renowned Mugaritz in Spain. His academic background, with a PhD in Physics from the University of Oxford, amongst other accolades, informs his exacting and painstaking approach to cooking. BiBi’s guests can witness the meticulous detail and precision with which each dish takes shape, from a 13-seater kitchen counter overlooking the custom-built sigree (charcoal grill).
