About Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff
Since 1967, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff (BBBSF) has made a difference in the lives of thousands of families in Flagstaff and Williams, AZ. Our mission is, "to help children succeed by matching them with appropriate adult mentors," and our vision is, "to bring a Big Brother or a Big Sister relationship to every child who needs or wants one." BBBSF's programs empower youth to become productive and engaged members of the community by allowing them succeed personally, academically, and socially. Our Programs: • Community Based Mentoring – matches Littles in one-to-one relationships with volunteer mentors, “Bigs.” Matches meet on their own for 2-4 hours each week and participate in various community activities of their choice. • School Based Mentoring – matches 1-5th grade Littles at four Flagstaff elementary schools and one Williams elementary school in one-to-one relationships with Bigs. Matches meet during the school year in a facilitated after school group setting where they participate in competence, competence, and caring-building activities. BBBSF also runs a Lunch Buddies School Based Mentoring program where matches meet weekly over the Little’s lunch hour. • Step Up Mentoring – is a collaborative effort between BBBSF and Coconino County Juvenile Court Services to bring group and individual mentoring into the lives of court-involved teens. Groups meet weekly and participate in various activities that promote positive community connections.
