Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater St. Joseph believes that inherent in every child is the ability to success and thrive in life. We have been fostering life-changing mentoring relationships in St. Joseph since 2008. When a Little (child) is matched with a Big (adult mentor), that child benefits from having a special adult in their life who spends time with them on a regular basis. Our data shows that this relationship plays a part in our Littles discovering more opportunities and possibilities that they never dreamed existed. BBBS helps Littles believe in themselves. They are more successful in school, their relationships with peers and families improve, and their willingness to try new things increases. We support them on their journey to becoming self-reliant, independent young adults with an exciting future ahead of them. After being matched with a Big for 12 months, Littles report the following: -83% report improved self-esteem -100% report no involvement with the juvenile court -100% of our high school seniors graduated last year There are many ways to help out Big Brothers Big Sisters including becoming a Big, becoming a financial supporter, sponsoring special events and initiatives, donating clothing or becoming a member of our Board of Directors.
