We feed pets as family. We're a family-owned Australian company, making fresh, raw, nutritious pet food using human-grade, Australian produce. We're proud to be Australia's leading healthy pet nutrition provider, keeping pets happy and healthy for over 20 years... that's a whole lot of well-fed pets. At Big Dog, we believe that nature gets it right which is why we don’t add anything synthetic to our diets. Our food is Complete and Balanced by Nature. As well as the 100% Australian, human-grade produce that we use, our processing facility is also top class. In fact, our facility meets the same standards required for human-consumption meat manufacturing. Not only do we walk the walk but we encourage transparency in the Australian pet food industry (which is currently unregulated). There is an Australian Standard that should be followed (known as AS5812), but it is voluntary to do so at this point in time. We are a member of the Pet Food Industry Association of Australia (PFIAA) and as part of our membership, we are audited by the PFIAA to ensure we comply with the standards. In addition to this, because we manufacture pet food for sale in the retail space, our customers also require their auditors to thoroughly review our processes and manufacturing for compliance. Finally, we are audited by Safe Foods QLD yearly for compliance against their standards. We’re committed to complying on our own, but it is nice to have regular 3rd party and unbiased approval that we’re doing everything right. We regularly show up with videos on social media to take pet parents behind the scenes of our Production facility so they can see exactly what goes into their pet's food. We share honest pet health and nutrition information for pet parents; collaborating with Animal Nutritionists and Veterinarians to provide dietary advice backed by science.
