In a world transformed by the COVID pandemic and social awakening, the Big Ideas Foundation (BIF) offers a unique approach. We combine scholarships, entrepreneurial education, experiential learning, community engagement, mentorship, and a strong sense of ownership. Our founder and CEO, Dontavious Young, believes in preparing underserved youth for leadership and societal change. COVID-19 shifted education online, limiting real-world experiences. Social issues like the George Floyd incident highlighted the need for understanding how race plays a part in American’s daily lives, it showed the polarization our cultures have, and the need for diverse role models and equitable opportunities. BIF rises to meet these challenges by empowering underserved students with community engagement, entrepreneurial skills, tangible experiences, and learning the importance of mentorship. Our program's core goal is to nurture community leadership. We teach vital entrepreneurial skills, including Business Management, Marketing, and Economics, focusing on the sustainable success of coffee while also allowing students to explore other industries that these skills can be applied to. The curriculum that our Founder, Dontavious Young, has developed will help change the entire public school system in America one day. By providing opportunities to public school students, we bridge the equity gap and increase their chances of attending college or starting businesses.
