About Big Red Mental Health Society
On June 14th, 2021, we lost our beloved brother and cousin Adam Hobbs, who took his life after his battles with mental health. Adam grew up closely beside his brothers Brandon & Zachary and his two cousins Julia & Jake, spending most of our childhood together, we grew a bond as siblings. There was a certain sense of confusion and disparity when we found out Adam had passed as we knew him as a fun, goofy, heartfelt friend and brother who was always there to lend a hand and make us smile. The reality is, mental health is very far from understood. For that reason, the 4 of us have created the Big Red Mental Health Society, dedicating our efforts to not only honour Adam’s life but to also: • Promote the importance of mental health education and awareness in the Fraser Valley, British Columbia, and Canada • Create Awareness, Acceptance, and overall Comfort for those who have been and still are affected by anxiety, depression, PTSD, or suicidal thoughts. We aim to help end the stigma around mental health illness by creating a conversation within our community, hosting events, and raising funds for foundations and charities that focus on mental health initiatives. Depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues are not a weakness and with the proper support and knowledge, we can reduce the number of suicides amongst men in Canada. Thank you for being a part of our journey, this is just the beginning! From all of us at the Big Red Mental Health Society, Brandon, Julia, Jake and Zach
