About Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program
Who We Are: Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program (BSLS) is a Black-led nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls, women, and communities. We foster leadership, personal development, career readiness, wellness, and academic success through mentorship and holistic support. What We Do: At BSLS, we provide 2 forms of one-on-one mentorship, skills development and training, leadership support, and community engagement opportunities. Our programs are designed to nurture the potential of young women, guiding them to become confident, compassionate leaders who contribute positively to their communities. Why We Do It: We believe that every young woman deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of her background. However, systemic barriers and a significant lack of funding for Black-led and women-focused organizations create obstacles that many cannot overcome alone. We are committed to closing these gaps and ensuring that every young woman has the support she needs to thrive. How We Make an Impact: Through our dedicated mentors, tailored programs, and community partnerships, we empower our participants to break cycles of poverty and inequality. Our approach is holistic, addressing both immediate needs and long-term growth, with a focus on building self-confidence, academic achievement, and leadership skills.
