Bilingual RN Services was created based on the strongest predictors of poor health outcomes identified. Communication barriers often go undetected in health care settings. Studies have shown that when patients have difficulties with communication and reading fluency they ultimately understand less about their chronic diseases and are worse at managing their health. Research has also demonstrated that establishing trust in relationships is closely connected with language. Patients who do not speak the language or have difficulty understanding the language are expected to navigate the system and manage more of their complex care at home. If they cannot understand their health information, they cannot take the necessary actions for their health or make any appropriate health decisions. Bilingual RN Services is here to serve this hidden epidemic. Our nurses empower, advocate, and directly help patients take control of their health, which in turn allows them to have the quality of life one deserves. A recent study of adult literacy found that nearly half of the US population has poor or inaccurate literacy in understanding medical terms. Bilingual RN Services helps assure that patients understand and follow the proposed medical treatments set forth by their providers.
