About BioC

BioC Ltd has experience in combustion and quality management of biomass and fossil fuel in the UK and Sweden since 1982. Experience includes district heating plants, power boilers, waste incinerators, co-firing of biomass and conversions of coal fired boilers to 100% biomass as well as steel reheating furnaces and kraft recovery boilers. Recent work has been focussed on co-firing of biomass in coal fired power station boilers and conversion of the same type of boilers to 100% biomass firing. Safety assessments in connection to these operational changes is important as self heating and ignition properties of biomass fuels are different to those of fossil fuels. Much work has been done on the milling of biomass in coal mills and properties of the milled particles for computer simulations. Examples of recent work including microscope photography and shape determination of biomass fuel particles can be seen on our web site.
