In Brazil’s Paraíba Valley, vast eucalyptus plantations once grown for the cellulose industry are now directed into charcoal production, releasing carbon with little long-term benefit. BioCarbonGrow transforms this underutilized biomass into biochar: a proven, permanent carbon removal solution that also restores soils and strengthens local agriculture. Our first facility removes more than one thousand tonnes of CO₂ every month, with capacity set to double by 2027. Every tonne is certified under the Puro.earth biochar methodology, and all biomass is sourced from PEFC-certified forests with full traceability. BioCarbonGrow is fully funded and operational, giving partners confidence in both delivery and scale. Beyond carbon removal, our model delivers direct benefits for Brazilian farmers. By working with fertilizer companies, we make biochar application simple to adopt and easy to integrate into existing practices. This improves soil fertility, helps retain water, reduces fertilizer imports, and increases yields, creating resilience where it is needed most.
